Our community battery was officially launched by the Hon Josh Wilson, member for Fremantle and Assistant Minister for Climate Change and Energy, today, October 29th. He reminded us that this is the the first non-network owned battery in Australia delivered under the Community Batteries for Household Solar program, it is wholly owned by the Shire rather than one of the energy network distributors. Quite an achievement for us in Flinders!
Chris Wallin (Yarra Energy Foundation) MC'd the morning. Short speeches were given by John Baker (CEO MP Shire), Ralph Kenyon (FZCC Co-convenor) and then Josh Wilson. Then they all proceeded to unveil the battery.
About 80 to 100 people attended and enjoyed a lovely morning tea provided kindly by the Flinders General Store (thank you, Kate!).
If you weren't able to be there, you can watch the 32 minute video here (thanks to Richard Atkinson for this).
